new york city

I’ve had the privilege of exploring this incredible metropolis twice now, once in 2021 and again in 2024, and let me tell you, it never gets old. There’s something almost overwhelming about the sheer density of culture, history, and experiences packed into those five boroughs.

From world-class museums and Broadway shows to neighborhood gems and iconic landmarks, you could spend months here and still discover something new every day. But here’s the reality check we all need to hear: NYC will test your travel budget like no other destination- it is expensive!

We first visited New York City in 2021, when the travel industry was still recovering from the pandemic. Hotels were unusually affordable, and Broadway shows hadn’t reopened yet. It turned out to be the perfect time for our family to take a budget-friendly trip and explore the city.

I made it back in 2024 on a stop-over on our way to Egypt! I was on a group tour that included airfare from NYC so we used that opportunity to enjoy a weekend in the city! Lesson Learned- it was a very expensive stop over!

Where we stayed?

Choosing your hotel is the most important budgetary decision you’ll make while staying in NYC. Some people choose to stay outside of Manhattan and take the subway in. Both visits I actually stayed on the same street in Midtown Manhattan. I didn’t make a video on the Springhill Suites, a Marriott property we stayed at in 2021. For the visit in 2024, we stayed at the Embassy Suites, a very popular choice, but not cheap.

Comparing Attractions?
